[NEWS] Huang Wen Yong passed away at the age of 60.

Veteran actor, Huang Wen Yong has passed away today at the age of 60.
He was one of my favorite actors because he portrayed roles which i believe no other person can take up. I watched him on TV since i was a small kid till now. No one portrays a better "Cai Shen Ye / 财神爷" or "God of Fortune" than him. He just fits the role perfectly.

Moving on to Ong Kim Lai / 黄金来 or Lai Shu in Don't Worry Be Happy (感感做个开心人) and another of my favorite Anthony Su Hua 青春鼓王 in 春到人间. I still remember he sang the song 爵士鼓手 in that drama, which i still have the mp3 in my phone.

I know he'll be remembered in Singapore Showbiz as one of the most outstanding actors today, regardless of awards or fame.

Deepest condolences to his family and close friends.

Rest in peace, Huang Wen Yong.

A Joke about FT from SMRT (Feedback) Ltd Facebook Comment.

4 commandos went on a mission a a helicopter. They are 1 American, 1 Japanese, 1 Singaporean and 1 Pinoy.

Midway in the air, the American commando took out a brand new pack of Marlboros, opened it and took out a stick to smoke. Then he threw the rest of the pack out of the helicopter. On seeing this, the Japanese commando asked,

Japanese: Why do you throw away the pack of cigarettes?
American: Marlboros!!! America got a lot!!!

Then the Japanese took out his Sony mp3 player, and started to listen to it. After a while, he stopped and threw the whole mp3 player out of the helicopter. The Singaporean commando saw it and asked.

Singaporean: Why you throw away your Sony mp3 player?
Japanese: Sony mp3 player!!! Japan got a lot!!!

Then the Singaporean suddenly grabbed the pinoy and threw him out of the helicopter. The American and Japanese were shocked! They asked him on why he threw the pinoy commando out.

The Singaporean commando replied:"Pinoys! Singapore got a lot!"

Letter from a Grassroots Leader to PM [From PAP Confessions FB Page]

I read this note from PAP Confessions Facebook Page and honestly, i believe many Singaporeans including myself agree to some points this annonymous Mr. Tan Ah Kow says.

Some excepts from the post;

"You see, I’m a business leader too. I know what its like to be surrounded by people reporting to you, who are naturally disposed to tell you what you want to hear. Or are all molded in the same way. I am outside your – sorry to use this word, “bubble” – so from the outside, sometimes, I can see things a bit more clearly."

"Its almost like you are burying your head in the sand, when it comes to examples that do not fit with your idealized notion of how it should have been. We do not exist in that alternate reality. When I think through these parts of your speech, I actually wonder if you are disconnected from us."

"You may not realise this, but in our public spaces – like the MRT, bus, Chinatown, Little India etc – we Singaporeans already no longer feel we are in the majority. My children tell me of attending classes in University, where Singaporeans are the minority and they feel they are in a foreign country. Do you realise that in some offices, large cliques of Filipinos or North Indians prevail, and they tend to hire their own?"

"You see, you work in the Civil Service –when you look out of your office, everywhere you look, you see Singaporeans. It is not like that in many other offices. How do you “watch the numbers” when you do not even have an accurate sense of the current ground reality?"

"Some of the lousiest emperors in China surrounded themselves with eunuchs who told the emperor what he wanted to hear. Some of the best, like Qian Long, disguised himself as a commoner to understand the true situation on the ground."

[SG PM Rally 2012] UniSIM and SIT to be counted as Local University

As heard in the PM's National Day Rally 2012 speech, PM said the Government is opening up more paths in higher education. It will increase full-time places for applied degrees. Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) and SIM University (UniSIM) will be made Singapore's fifth and sixth universities.

Well, personally i felt that this doesn't makes a difference to the employment selection criteria. I believe many other citizens will feel this way too.
  • Employers will still sought after applicants from NUS / NTU / SMU as these 3 are the main Universities in Singapore.
  • The salary scale of the worker will not be at par with a fellow worker of the same position and job scope due to the difference in the value of the cert.

After all, the reality of getting a certificate is to apply a job with good prospects, salary scale and career progression and obviously the value of a certificate from NUS / NTU / SMU over weighs SIT / SIM no matter if the latter is officially recognized or not.

On the brighter side, for SIT / UniSIM students, they can look forward to joining the Government sector which accepts qualifications from Local Universities. I believe that there are graduates from UniSIM / SIT who wishes to join the Mninistry of Education (MOE) to embark on a journey to become an Educator. This will be good news for them.

But still, this doesn't change the fact that FTs are still competing with locals for job positions and in fact this is an advantage to them.

Ho Say.

CHC members can raise money for Kong Hee and Cohort

My thoughts, to be honest, by just reading the heading, i am already thinking why does someone like Kong Hee needs the financial support from CHC anyway? I mean, his wealth and assets accumulated surpasses maybe even one cell group members income combined.
As for his partners, they might be needed some form of financial assistance due to their suspension but again, there is a high probability that they are financially secured themselves with millions to spare. If this fund raising occurs, there should be transparency of how much CHC is giving each of those people or any form that can justify how the funds are used in this raising.

I ain't from CHC neither do i have a religion. I hate to say this but can people following bindly just wake up? Giving donations that were used to fund an unsuccessful music career while there are people stuggling to survive and asking people to downgrade their housing in order to give someone else to upgrade their housing to Sentosa Cover behind people's back.

That said, i believe those who are behind Kong Hee and gang will still support him no matter what he did or whatever they are accused of doing. So lets take a look at how to raise and give money, they CHC way, in the pictures below. Tee Hee.
